What is The Awesomeness Project?

Led by personal trainer Matt King, and by Leigh wearing her wellbeing coach hat, it’s about helping you find a way of fitness and wellbeing that works for you, your life, and your goals.

It’s about recognising that we’re all different. That there is no one ‘perfect’ body shape, and no perfect diet that will make excess weight magically disappear. It’s about emotional health as well as physical health – about recognising that with so many challenges and stresses in modern life it can be difficult to achieve a balance that feels right for you.

Leigh and Matt had been thinking about working on a collaborative blog. Since training with Matt, Leigh has transformed her attitude to exercise, food, and general wellbeing. She has gone from disliking exercise to finding as many excuses as possible to go to the gym and workout!

Their workouts consist of a mix of bodyweight exercises, HIIT, plyometric, boxing, weights…lots of variety to burn fat and build lean muscle. In less than nine months Leigh lost two dress sizes, and more than six inches around her waist. She has no idea what she weighs because that is irrelevant. While she watches what she eats, she sees food as nutrition and what a particular food can offer her body, rather than counting calories or excluding any food groups.

The benefits are more than just physical, however: working out also helps her manage her post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms, including anxiety. Her fitness journey has also helped build self-confidence and self-esteem.

Matt and Leigh want to share their expertise and enthusiasm with you to help you achieve your own personal awesomeness, too.

Here’s Leigh and Matt in action during a PT session, using the TRX suspension system (please excuse the dodgy sound at the beginning, it was recorded from Facebook Live).
